Its Chief Diversity Officer highlighted how vital these initiatives are for Microsoft’s success. When Trump threatened to cut legal support for the company’s government contracts, Microsoft responded by dropping the law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, choosing Jenner & Block instead—a firm that has sued the Trump administration.
The Coming Trouble Over Monaco
The real test came when Trump demanded that Microsoft fire Lisa Monaco, citing her role in prosecuting him and her past work for Biden. Trump accused Monaco of being a security threat and threatened to hurt Microsoft’s business if she wasn’t dismissed. Experts warn that Trump’s administration often rewards loyalty and punishes defiance, making Microsoft’s position risky.
