AI Cybersecurity Market Set to Double by 2026, Reaching $134 Billion by 2030

The artificial intelligence cybersecurity market is experiencing explosive growth, with projections showing the sector will more than quintuple over the next six years. Valued at approximately $24.3 billion in 2023, the market is forecast to double by 2026 before climbing to nearly $134 billion by 2030.

This acceleration reflects the cybersecurity industry’s rapid pivot toward AI-powered defense mechanisms as organizations face increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.

The growth trajectory represents a compound annual growth rate exceeding 24%, driven by the urgent need for automated threat detection and real-time response capabilities.

Driving Forces Behind the Surge

AI and machine learning tools have seen transaction volumes skyrocket by nearly 595%, rising from 521 million AI-driven transactions in April 2023 to 3.1 billion monthly by January 2024, according to the Zscaler 2024 AI Security Report. The follow-up 2025 report shows this trend has continued, with over 536 billion AI transactions analyzed in just 11 months.

Investment appetite remains strong: 82% of IT decision-makers planned to invest in AI-driven cybersecurity within a two-year window, with 48% committing before the end of 2023.

Regional Distribution and Market Leaders

North America dominates, holding approximately 31.5% of the global market in 2024. More than 2,800 AI companies now operate in the cybersecurity space worldwide, with established leaders including Splunk, Palo Alto Networks, Darktrace, CrowdStrike, Ping Identity, and Fortinet.

Generative AI is driving security spending upward by more than 15% through 2025. By 2026, 40% of development teams will routinely use AI-based auto-remediation for insecure code, up from less than 5% in 2023.

However, 13% of organizations globally reported breaches involving AI models or applications in the past year, with 60% leading to compromised data and 31% causing operational disruption.

Organizations with high “shadow AI” usage faced an average additional cost of $670,000 per breach compared to those with minimal shadow AI.

Forecast

The projected growth to $134 billion by 2030, and even higher in some forecasts, signals that AI is becoming the foundational technology for cybersecurity operations worldwide.

Alex Lekander, a cyber security expert and Editor-in-chief at CyberInsider, thinks this market expansion is being driven by necessity, not hype. “Organizations are deploying AI-powered security because threat actors have already weaponized it against them.

The real question isn’t whether companies will adopt these technologies, but whether they can implement them fast enough to stay ahead of adversaries who are innovating at the same pace.
