OPAQUE, known for verifiable, cryptographic AI runtime data protection, has secured $24 million in Series B funding, pushing its post money valuation to approximately $300 million. The round was led by Walden Catalyst, with participation from returning investors Intel Capital, Race Capital, Storm Ventures, and Thomvest. The Advanced Technology Research Council joined as both a new investor and strategic partner.

With this raise, total funding now reaches $55.5 million. The company is positioning itself as a central trust layer for enterprise AI.

A Market Facing a Trust Problem

Confidential AI has moved from concept to enterprise priority in a short time. Major technology players including NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft Azure, and AWS have publicly backed confidential computing approaches for AI workloads.

According to Gartner, Confidential AI techniques are becoming essential for securing GenAI workflows and protecting sensitive data used in model training and inference.

Enterprises are eager to deploy AI agents across proprietary datasets. But many projects stall at pilot stage. Data leakage risks, compliance obligations, and audit concerns often slow or block full production deployment. The gap between AI ambition and operational trust continues to widen.

“Enterprises will continue to struggle to bring AI into production until they have verifiable guarantees that their most sensitive data and models are protected. OPAQUE solves this problem and has pioneered a platform built for verifiable privacy, policy enforcement, and model integrity, capabilities that are quickly becoming non negotiable. We’re proud to continue to support this round and OPAQUE as they enable trusted, enterprise grade AI adoption.”

Scaling Verifiable Confidential AI Infrastructure

OPAQUE plans to use the new capital to accelerate delivery of its Confidential AI platform. The company describes its infrastructure as secure and auditable, giving enterprises cryptographic proof that data privacy, model integrity, and policy enforcement are verified before, during, and after runtime.

Organizations are under pressure to move quickly with AI initiatives while meeting rising compliance standards. OPAQUE aims to provide measurable governance rather than relying on assumptions.

“The real barrier to enterprise AI is trust. AI won’t scale unless organizations can verify, not just assume, that their data and models are protected. Confidential AI closes the trust gap by delivering runtime proof that data stayed private during computation, model weights were never exposed, and policies were enforced exactly as written. We’re accelerating the shift to a confidential-first infrastructure so every enterprise can turn sensitive data from a liability into a competitive advantage.”

Aaron Fulkerson, CEO at OPAQUE.

The company is also expanding into post-quantum security, confidential AI training, and sovereign cloud environments. These areas are increasingly relevant for enterprises operating under national data regulations and strict governance mandates. The funding follows the recent launch of OPAQUE Studio, a development environment that allows enterprises to build and deploy Confidential AI agents with runtime-verifiable privacy and compliance controls.

Born at Berkeley, Built for Enterprise AI

OPAQUE was born out of UC Berkeley’s RISELab, with a focus on solving one of the main blockers to AI adoption at scale: security concerns around data leaks and regulatory violations.

The company’s platform extends traditional governance tools by adding runtime verification backed by cryptographic proof. In practical terms, this means enterprises can confirm that sensitive data remains private during computation and that policies are enforced exactly as defined.

“There is no such thing as sovereign AI without verifiable guarantees on how data, models, and policies are protected and governed. OPAQUE provides the confidential and cryptographically verifiable foundation that empowers our combined technologies to operate AI systems with true sovereignty. This is why we’re excited to be both an investor and a partner, given our shared commitment to advancing Confidential AI innovation.”

Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of the Technology Innovation Institute (TII).

OPAQUE claims this approach allows teams to move from pilot to production four to five times faster. Its customer and partner ecosystem includes ServiceNow, Anthropic, Encore Capital, and Accenture, alongside organizations across financial services, insurance, healthcare, and high-tech sectors.
