As the smartphone market slows down, tech giants like Apple and Meta are shifting focus to smart glasses. Apple is reportedly gearing up to introduce a new product in this space. However, expectations should be managed—these glasses won’t be like the high-end augmented reality devices we’ve seen before.
What Apple’s Smart Glasses Will Offer
Instead of full augmented reality glasses like the Vision Pro, Apple is working on smart spectacles. Multiple colors such as black, blue, and light brown are also on the table.

While Apple hopes to announce these glasses later this year, shipping might not happen until fall 2027. This long wait is typical for Apple’s product development cycle but means early hype and speculation are inevitable.
The potential success of these glasses is significant. Recent data shows smart glasses shipments surged 210% in 2024, reaching two million units for the first time. Industry experts see these devices as the next big AI-driven tech trend that could shake up the traditional eyewear market.
Apple’s main competitor in this space is Meta, which held an 82% market share in the second half of 2025. It remains to be seen whether Apple can disrupt this dominance with its design prowess and branding.
