Healthcare AI Startup Heidi Secures $65M Funding Round
Heidi has closed a $65 million Series B funding round led by Point72 Private Investments. The healthcare AI company also welcomed continued backing from existing investors Blackbird, Headline, and Latitude, the growth fund of Phoenix Court.
The round values Heidi at $465 million and pushes total funding to nearly $100 million. The Melbourne-founded company plans to use the capital to expand operations in the US, UK, and Canadian markets while building on momentum in France, Spain, Germany, Ireland, South Africa, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
Tackling Administrative Overload in Healthcare
Healthcare systems worldwide face a growing challenge. Research shows clinicians spend nearly as much time on administrative tasks as they do on patient care. Heidi’s AI Care Partner addresses this by automating clinical documentation, evidence search, and follow-up communications.
In just 18 months, the platform has returned more than 18 million hours to frontline clinicians. The company now supports over two million consultations weekly across 110 languages in 116 countries.
“It is untenable that healthcare demand continues to rise while clinical time continues to shrink. Building a sustainable healthcare system requires expanding clinical capacity without compromising clinician wellbeing or patient safety. That’s why I founded Heidi: to build an AI Care Partner that stands alongside clinicians, empowering them to deliver the care to which they have dedicated their lives.”

Capital Deployment and Market Expansion
The Series B funding will accelerate Heidi’s expansion across key markets. The company plans to grow its headcount and establish local support infrastructure in North America and Europe. Heidi is already working with primary care practices, hospitals, and healthcare systems exploring AI capabilities.
Major healthcare organizations have adopted the platform in recent months. In the UK, Modality Partnership selected Heidi for the largest deployment of ambient AI in the country. Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has also implemented the technology. Pilot programs are underway with NHS Trusts across the North West London Acute Provider Collaborative, serving roughly 2.2 million people, and One LSC in Lancashire and South Cumbria, covering nearly 1.8 million residents.
Growing Adoption Across Healthcare Systems
In the United States, Beth Israel Lahey Health—the largest hospital network in Massachusetts—has partnered with Heidi. MaineGeneral, one of Maine’s largest hospital networks operating the state’s biggest outpatient center, cites Heidi as a “transformation partner.”
The platform has also gained traction internationally. The Yukon Government in Canada has selected Heidi as its official choice. In Australia, Monash Health uses the platform across 40 facilities, including seven hospitals serving a local population of approximately 1.6 million. Queensland Health Children’s Hospital and Health Service has adopted Heidi to support its clinical services and specialist care programs.
New Zealand’s Health Ministry has formally endorsed Heidi as one of just two healthcare AI providers safe to trial in the public health system.
Building the Company
Heidi was founded by Dr. Thomas Kelly, a former vascular surgical resident. Since launching, the company has attracted tens of thousands of clinicians from over 200 medical specialties. The platform has supported 73 million patient consultations to date.
Alongside the funding announcement, Heidi revealed two senior appointments. Paul Williamson joins as Chief Revenue Officer, coming from his role as Head of Revenue at Plaid. Dr. Simon Kos takes on the position of Chief Medical Officer, previously serving in the same role at Microsoft.
Paul Williamson said: “During my career, I’ve chosen to work with companies that have transformed their respective industries – from Salesforce in customer relationship management to Plaid in financial services. Today, I join Heidi’s mission to redefine healthcare in the age of AI.”
Dr. Simon Kos said: “With Heidi by their side, clinicians not only improve their experience of delivering care but the patients’ experience of receiving it. Heidi’s bold vision extends beyond the current promise of ambient voice technology and into a future where every clinician can leverage AI to expand their clinical capacity while protecting the human touch in healthcare.”
Investor Perspective and Historical Funding
Sri Chandrasekar, Managing Partner at Point72 Private Investments, said: “We believe administrative burden is contributing to clinician burnout and capacity challenges across healthcare systems. Heidi’s platform has the potential to meaningfully improve how clinicians manage their administrative workflows. We’re impressed by the adoption rates they’ve demonstrated within health systems and are excited to support their vision of expanding healthcare capacity while preserving the human touch in patient care.”
The funding round brings Heidi’s total raised capital to $96.6 million. Previous investors include Possible Ventures and Archangel, in addition to the returning backers in this round. The company maintains adherence to international standards including NHS, HIPAA, GDPR, and Australian Privacy Principles, with enterprise-grade security certifications such as SOC2 and ISO27001.
