How AI Is Changing the Way We Find Jobs and Hire Talent
LinkedIn is one of the top platforms for professional networking and job hunting. Recently, it has started using artificial intelligence to improve how users search for jobs and how companies find the right candidates. These new AI tools aim to make the entire process faster, smarter, and more personalized for everyone involved.
Smarter Job Searches with AI
Traditional job searches often depend on keyword matching, which can be limiting. Sometimes, the results aren’t very relevant because they don’t understand the real intent behind a search. LinkedIn’s AI-powered tools change that by allowing users to ask questions in a natural way. For example, someone can inquire, “What entry-level marketing roles are available?” and receive more tailored results. This makes the search experience more conversational and intuitive.
The AI also considers a user’s profile to suggest alternative career paths they might not have thought of. This personalized approach helps job seekers discover roles that fit their skills and interests better. According to Rohan Rajiv, LinkedIn’s product lead for job search, AI focuses on understanding what users really want rather than just matching based on keywords. This shift means users spend less time scrolling through unrelated listings and more time finding suitable opportunities.
Improving Hiring and Networking with AI
For recruiters, AI makes the hiring process much easier. It can surface the most qualified candidates, even if they come from diverse backgrounds. This helps companies fill roles more efficiently, which is especially important during times of labor shortages. AI also helps reduce the time and effort needed to review large pools of applicants.
Another new feature is called “People Search.” It allows users to find potential references or contacts within a company. For example, someone can input a query like “Who can refer me to Accenture?” and receive a list of relevant contacts. This streamlines networking and makes it easier for job seekers to build connections that can help them land a job.
These AI innovations have been gradually rolling out in select countries since earlier this year. LinkedIn plans to expand these features worldwide in 2026. Overall, integrating AI into the platform is making job searching and hiring smarter, faster, and more targeted, benefiting everyone involved in the process.
