Many also appreciate how AI helps them finish repetitive tasks more quickly—73% said this. Another common benefit is spending less time searching for information, with 72% reporting this. AI also speeds up coding and learning new tools, making development more efficient overall.

However, developers also have concerns. They worry about the quality of code AI produces, especially since AI can sometimes misunderstand complex logic. Privacy and security are also top worries, as sensitive data might be exposed or misused. Additionally, some fear that over-relying on AI could weaken coding skills or reduce understanding of underlying principles.

Languages, Markets, and Cloud Preferences

Looking at programming languages, Python remains the most popular, used by 35% of developers. Java is close behind at 33%, with JavaScript, TypeScript, and HTML/CSS also widely used. Developers are eager to learn new languages too, with Go and Rust topping their list of future picks. Many see these languages as the next step for their projects.

Most developers build websites and business software, making these the main focus areas. Less common are game development and AR/VR projects. When it comes to cloud platforms, Amazon Web Services (AWS) leads with 43% of developers using it. Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure are also popular choices.

The job market remains challenging, especially for junior developers. About 61% of less experienced workers find it tough to land or keep a job, compared to 34% of more senior developers. As AI continues to grow, it may reshape how developers work, learn, and compete in the tech world.
