This human-centered approach means designing AI with empathy, respect, and fairness. It requires engaging local communities and respecting cultural differences. It also means continuously improving AI systems based on real-world feedback.

When done right, AI can reduce administrative burdens, improve care coordination, and make healthcare more accessible. But without patient leadership and strong governance, it risks repeating old mistakes on a bigger scale.
Healthcare’s AI future depends on building trust through inclusion, clear rules, and respect for lived experience. Patients must not only be heard—they must help lead.
