Adobe’s New AI Assistants Make Creative Work Easier and Smarter

Adobe is stepping up its game with new AI tools that help users create and edit images more easily. These AI assistants are designed to work across Adobe’s popular apps like Photoshop and Adobe Express, making it simpler for both casual users and professionals to bring their ideas to life.

AI Helpers for Adobe Express

Adobe has introduced a conversational AI assistant for Adobe Express, a tool many use to create quick designs. You can tell the AI what you want in plain language, and it will handle the details. For example, it can change fonts, swap out images, or adjust backgrounds automatically. It can even suggest improvements for your designs.

Adobe says they’re also working on adding enterprise features. That means big companies can use the AI to create on-brand content without needing a designer every time. Features like locking templates or creating multiple pieces at once are in development. Currently, the AI assistant is available in beta on desktop for Adobe Express Premium users, and eventually, it will be accessible to all users through Adobe’s Firefly credit system.

Enhancing Photoshop with AI

Another big step is bringing AI helpers to Photoshop’s web version, which is still in a private beta. This AI can suggest ways to improve images, like fixing text contrast or adjusting brightness and saturation. It can also perform complex edits, such as selecting subjects or creating masks, all while keeping the image fully editable.

Alexandru Costin, Adobe’s VP of Generative AI, explained that users can simply tell the AI what to do, and it will choose the right tools to get the job done. Plus, the AI can generate names for different layers based on what’s in the image, helping keep projects organized.

These tools aim to save users time and boost creativity, making it easier to turn ideas into finished designs. Adobe believes that by reducing the technical hurdles, users can focus more on their creative vision.

Broader Plans for AI in Adobe’s Ecosystem

Adobe’s executives see these tools as just the start. They’re working on a larger project called Moonlight, which acts as a personal assistant connecting across multiple Adobe apps. Moonlight will help coordinate projects, suggest content, and pull in assets from social media and Creative Cloud libraries.

This connected approach could turn Adobe’s suite into a powerful control center for social marketing and content creation. It aims to make workflows smoother and more integrated, helping users move seamlessly from idea to finished product.

While some may worry about the complexity of using multiple AI tools, experts say that simple, reliable integrations are key. Adobe’s focus on single-source AI solutions like Moonlight could give users a more cohesive experience. The company believes that having AI assistants embedded everywhere will be essential for staying competitive and meeting the needs of both casual creators and professionals.

Project Moonlight is still in private beta but is expected to launch in the coming months. Adobe’s broader goal is to embed AI assistants across its entire creative platform, making creative work faster, smarter, and more collaborative than ever before.
