What We Know About the New Tab Organization Feature
According to reports, Apple is working on a feature called “Organize Tabs” for Safari. While details are still limited, it appears that this feature will automatically categorize your open tabs based on content or usage patterns. This could be especially helpful for users who tend to keep many tabs open at once and struggle to find what they need later.
Interestingly, this new tool will give users the choice to enable automatic grouping or keep managing tabs manually. So, if you prefer a more hands-on approach, you can still organize your tabs yourself. But for those who want a smarter, more streamlined browsing experience, the auto-organization will be a game changer.
How It Builds on Existing Safari Features
The “Organize Tabs” feature builds on a previous Safari addition called Tab Groups, introduced in Safari 15 back in 2021. Tab Groups let users save and switch between different sets of tabs, but they still require manual setup. The new feature aims to take this further by automatically sorting tabs into groups, reducing the clutter without extra effort.
It’s worth noting that similar features have already appeared elsewhere. For example, Google Chrome introduced a comparable function called “Organize Similar Tabs” in early 2024.
