Bobyard 2.0 Boosts Estimating Speed with AI Enhancements
Bobyard has launched Bobyard 2.0, an upgraded platform that aims to make project estimating faster and more accurate. The new version focuses on speeding up takeoff workflows and unifying AI tools into a single workbench. This update is designed for estimators working in construction and landscaping, helping them work more efficiently and reduce errors.
Enhanced Takeoff and Cost Integration
One of the key features of Bobyard 2.0 is improved takeoff speed. Takeoffs involve analyzing drawings to determine the materials and quantities needed for a project. Faster takeoffs mean contractors can prepare bids more quickly and accurately. The platform now combines material quantities with their costs using a “measure first, price later” approach. This saves time and minimizes mistakes from the initial measurement to the final bid.
Another big update is the Multi-Measure feature. Estimators can draw once and have the system calculate areas, perimeters, and volumes all at once. This eliminates the need to create separate lines or shapes for each measurement, making the process more streamlined. Additionally, importing pricing and assembly data into the estimate table has become simpler, allowing users to move directly from takeoff to final estimates without exporting or reworking data.
Smarter AI Tools and Workflow Improvements
Bobyard 2.0 integrates its AI capabilities into a unified workbench. This includes a Review Workflow option, which enables estimators to verify and adjust AI-generated outputs before adding them to their takeoff. This extra layer of control helps improve accuracy and confidence in the results. The platform also features a Legend Manager, giving users a dedicated space to create and manage symbol and pattern legends, making drawings easier to interpret.
Text Count is another useful addition. It allows estimators to turn labels and words in drawings into count measurements, further speeding up the process. Overall, the update aims to ensure that once a takeoff is finished, users don’t have to rebuild or redo work to get to a final estimate. Navigation improvements, such as cross-page search, make the workflow smoother from start to finish, all within the same platform.
Bobyard has also made the platform more user-friendly, with a focus on ease of use and efficiency. These upgrades help estimators submit more bids—sometimes three to five times more—while enjoying more accurate results and better profit margins. The company reports that their platform now automates up to 70% of the quantity and material takeoff process, saving significant time and reducing errors.
Funding for Bobyard has been strong, with a $35 million Series A round led by 8VC, along with Pear VC and Caffeinated Capital. The company emphasizes that their platform is designed to adapt to the needs of contractors and estimators, making their workflows faster and more reliable. The goal is to let users spend less time on manual tasks and more on winning projects and managing their work efficiently.
Michael Ding, CEO of Bobyard, explained that every update is driven by customer feedback. The company is focused on helping estimators stay in control, move faster, and spend less time on work that software should handle. With these improvements, Bobyard aims to be a essential tool for construction and landscaping professionals looking to stay competitive and improve their estimating processes.
