Google has rolled out a significant update to its Gemini Enterprise app, making it easier for office workers to build, manage, and work alongside AI agents. Alongside these improvements, the company introduced new tools for IT teams to oversee agent usage through the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. First launched last year, Gemini Enterprise was designed to give knowledge workers access to AI agents that can find information and handle tasks automatically. This week at Google Cloud Next, Google revealed a host of new features set to roll out over the coming months, aiming to boost collaboration and productivity.

New Collaborative Features for Teams

One of the key additions is Projects, a shared workspace where teams can interact with a common “expert” chatbot. This chatbot connects to specific data sources within Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and team chats, helping teams work together more effectively. The goal is to enable seamless collaboration by providing a central point for team interactions with AI-powered assistants.

Additionally, Google introduced a new Canvas tool that allows users to create and edit documents directly within Gemini Enterprise. This includes Google Docs and Slides, as well as files from Microsoft 365. The integration aims to streamline workflows by eliminating the need to switch between different apps, keeping everything within a single platform.

Enhanced AI Building and Management

Google is making it easier for users to create their own AI agents with the Agent Designer, a no-code tool that allows building agents based on schedules or triggers. Users can now design agents using simple natural language prompts or through a visual interface that resembles a flowchart. This feature, which was in preview last year, is now available for general use, allowing users to test and refine each step in an agent’s workflow. Human-in-the-loop checkpoints can also be inserted to approve actions when necessary.

Another new addition is the capability to deploy long-running agents that can handle complex, multi-step tasks over days. These agents operate in cloud sandboxes and can perform processes like financial reconciliations without constant supervision. Google also introduced an Agent Gallery, providing access to third-party agents from companies like Adobe, Lovable, and ServiceNow, expanding the ecosystem of AI tools available within Gemini Enterprise.

To help manage all these agents, Google launched Inbox—a centralized hub where users can monitor, guide, and securely control agent activity. From Inbox, users can see real-time notifications, track task progress, and manage active agents. This feature aims to give teams better oversight of their AI workflows and ensure smooth operation across different tasks.

Industry experts have noted that features like Projects and Canvas are now standard in AI platforms, but the addition of a comprehensive management hub like Inbox is a notable step forward. It helps organizations oversee multiple AI agents more efficiently, reducing complexity and improving reliability.
