Addressing the Study Experience Gap

Many teenagers and young adults still study in traditional ways—reading notes alone and struggling to stay focused. Meanwhile, their phones are filled with content designed to grab their attention. Despite the rise of generative AI tools used for schoolwork—84% of high school students reported using them by May 2025—few platforms have been built from the ground up to match the high engagement levels students expect from everyday apps.

Gizmo aims to change that. The platform makes learning interactive and personalized, turning dense subjects into engaging experiences that students actually enjoy. Its approach is to create an environment where studying feels less like a chore and more like social media or gaming, encouraging continuous use and real learning outcomes.

Market Potential and Growth

The global AI in education market was valued at nearly $6 billion in 2024 and is expected to grow rapidly, reaching over $32 billion by 2030. The main driver is demand for personalized and adaptive learning experiences. Gizmo already serves more than 13 million learners across 120 countries, becoming a staple in many students’ study routines.

Industry experts see Gizmo’s approach as a breakthrough. Ethan Daly, a general partner at Shine Capital, said Gizmo has cracked something that has long eluded consumer learning platforms: organic, student-driven engagement at a large scale. By turning learning into an interactive, rewarding experience, Gizmo is helping students see education as enjoyable and effective.

How Gizmo Plans to Use the Funding

The new investment will mainly be used to hire more engineers and AI specialists. Gizmo is also planning to expand into the US college market, which represents a major growth opportunity. Meanwhile, the team continues to develop its platform and increase engagement among existing users worldwide.

Founder Petros Christodoulou explained that Gizmo isn’t about fighting screen time but improving it. The platform taps into students’ desire for progress, social connection, and rewards—redirecting that energy into productive learning. With this funding, Gizmo aims to scale its impact and make personalized, engaging education accessible to more students around the globe.
