Huskeys Raises $8M to Modernize Web Application Firewalls
Huskeys, a company focused on enhancing edge security, has secured $8 million in seed funding. The company aims to fix a long-standing problem in enterprise security: the outdated and often ignored web application firewalls (WAFs). This new funding will help Huskeys develop its innovative approach to making web security more effective and easier to manage.
Addressing a Legacy Security Issue
Web application firewalls have been part of security setups since the late 1990s. Back then, most web traffic was from human users, and WAFs were built to block malicious activity from them. Today, the web landscape has changed dramatically. Now, most traffic comes from APIs, automated bots, and complex integrations that traditional WAFs struggle to handle.
This shift has created a big problem for security teams. Many have given up on trying to fine-tune their WAFs because the process is too complicated and disruptive. They face a tough choice: block legitimate users and lose revenue or leave vulnerabilities open to modern attacks. As a result, many organizations leave their defenses less effective than they should be.
How Huskeys Is Changing the Game
Huskeys offers a platform that works alongside existing WAFs instead of replacing them. It can be deployed quickly across multiple cloud environments and WAF providers through simple plug-and-play tools. The core of its technology is an agentic AI engine that acts as a smart control center, collecting traffic data from various sources like CDNs, infrastructure, and applications.
This AI engine continuously analyzes traffic patterns and adjusts rules in real-time. By doing so, it helps security teams better distinguish between legitimate activity and potential threats. In one early case, Huskeys identified overly aggressive rules set by a vendor that were blocking real customers from completing purchases. Adjusting those rules led to a quick recovery of millions in revenue.
CEO and co-founder Itai Gafni emphasizes that Huskeys is built to be easy to set up and deliver immediate value. Teams can integrate the platform within minutes and see results within hours. This approach transforms WAFs from a business obstacle into a tool that can boost revenue and improve security at the same time.
Funding Focus and Future Plans
The recent seed round will fund the expansion of Huskeys’ platform capabilities. This includes deepening integrations with major WAF and CDN providers and growing the engineering and sales teams. The company already works with notable clients like TikTok, Merlin Entertainments, and Hugging Face.
With this investment, Huskeys plans to convert its early partnerships into a scalable deployment model. The goal is to make its solution accessible to more enterprises and to keep improving the platform with new features. As web security challenges evolve, Huskeys aims to stay ahead by providing smarter, more adaptable defenses.
Overall, Huskeys is positioning itself as a key player in modernizing web security. By combining AI with existing infrastructure, it hopes to solve one of the biggest frustrations in enterprise security and help organizations better protect their digital assets.
