As artificial intelligence continues to generate massive amounts of data, companies need faster and more secure ways to transfer information across different cloud services, data centers, and edge locations. To meet this demand, Lumen Technologies has introduced new tools to make network connectivity simpler and more efficient. These updates are designed to help businesses handle AI workloads with less complexity and lower costs.

Enhancing Data Movement Across Hybrid Environments

Lumen’s latest offerings focus on improving how data travels between various parts of a company’s network. They combine centralized multi-cloud routing with high-capacity private metro connections. This creates a more reliable foundation for running AI applications and other modern workloads that require quick data access.

The company’s new Multi-Cloud Gateway (MCGW) acts as a flexible, software-defined routing layer on Lumen’s global fiber network. It allows businesses to connect different cloud platforms and their own data centers dynamically. This means companies can optimize traffic for better performance and cost management, while supporting complex AI tasks like real-time data sharing and workload distribution.

Streamlining Connectivity in Major U.S. Markets

In addition to the gateway, Lumen has expanded its high-capacity metro Ethernet and IP services across 16 key U.S. markets. These upgrades enable speeds up to 100Gbps between regional data centers and edge locations, and up to 400Gbps at major cloud data centers. This fast, dedicated connectivity helps enterprises move large datasets quickly and securely for AI training, analytics, and disaster recovery.

Markets that recently saw upgrades include places like Northern Virginia, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, and Seattle. These improvements are especially important as AI applications push companies to reduce latency and operational costs while managing complex data flows more effectively.

According to industry experts, AI is transforming network design by encouraging companies to shift from experimental setups to fully operational architectures. These new tools from Lumen aim to support that transition by making networks more agile and easier to manage, ultimately helping enterprises accelerate their AI initiatives without getting bogged down by technical hurdles.
