It found that those who have modernized their applications are nearly three times more likely to see clear benefits from their AI investments.
In the Asia-Pacific region, the link is even stronger. About 92% of leaders there say that updating their software was the most important step in boosting their AI capabilities. This shows that modernization is not just a nice-to-have but a critical part of making AI work well in real-world scenarios.
Why Modern Apps Matter More Than Just Trying New Tools
The report emphasizes that AI success depends on fast data access, flexible architecture, and seamless integration. Older, legacy applications often slow things down because they’re fragmented, inflexible, or fragile. These issues make it hard for AI projects to go beyond small experiments or isolated use cases.

Modern apps allow teams to experiment more freely, scale up projects, and make improvements without constant rework. In APAC, 90% of leading organizations have already embedded AI into their existing systems, compared to lower levels among those still playing catch-up. Many plan to expand this integration further in the coming year.
