How Numos Is Making Finance AI Transparent and Trustworthy
Numos, an AI platform designed for finance teams in large companies, has raised $4.25 million in seed funding. The round was led by General Catalyst and included support from Operator Collective. The company aims to change how finance departments use AI by making it more understandable and reliable. Its software connects with existing finance systems to analyze transactions and help teams make faster, smarter decisions.
Bringing Transparency to Finance AI
Unlike many AI tools that act as a black box, Numos shows users how it reaches its conclusions. The platform allows finance teams to trace the logic behind analyses like variances, reconciliations, and quote-to-cash automations. This transparency helps teams trust the AI and understand its recommendations.
According to Numos, their platform speeds up financial planning and analysis reports by up to 80%. Companies also say they can close their books in less than half the usual time. These improvements could significantly boost efficiency in finance operations, especially in organizations where manual work still dominates.
Addressing Challenges in Finance AI Adoption
Despite the promise of embedded AI, many CFOs are cautious about adopting it fully. Common concerns include data quality issues, difficulty integrating AI systems with existing tools, and the inability to audit AI decisions. Since finance teams are responsible for the accuracy of financial data, they need tools they can verify and trust.
Parijat Sarkar, CEO and co-founder of Numos, explains that their platform helps teams work with AI without losing control. Every step of the process is transparent and auditable, making it easier for finance teams to feel confident in using AI tools for critical tasks.
Building the Future of Finance with AI Agents
The new funding will accelerate product development and expand the engineering team. The goal is to create a robust infrastructure that replaces manual, disconnected workflows with coordinated AI automation. This approach aims to streamline processes like reconciliations, variance analysis, and reporting at scale.
Mitul Tiwari, CTO and co-founder, envisions a future where finance isn’t just using one AI tool, but a team of specialized AI agents working alongside humans. These agents understand the financial context, automate repetitive tasks, and constantly evaluate their outputs. By orchestrating these agents across existing systems, Numos aims to turn fragmented processes into seamless automated workflows.
Founded by Parijat Sarkar and Mitul Tiwari, the company combines deep experience in enterprise AI and finance. Sarkar’s background includes senior roles at Zenefits, while Tiwari has built AI systems at LinkedIn and ServiceNow. Their combined expertise influences every product decision. The platform is already gaining traction with large enterprise customers, showing promising early results in transforming finance operations.
