Nvidia’s DGX Spark Sells Out Fast, Limited Stock at Micro Center
379Nvidia’s new mini supercomputer, the DGX Spark, has already sold out on the company’s online store. Only a few hundred units are available at Micro Center stores across the US. The device is in high demand, especially among industry users, but consumers might not be the main target here.
The DGX Spark was supposed to be available five months ago, but its launch kept getting delayed. Nvidia first announced it at CES 2025 in January, calling it Project DIGITS. Back then, it was supposed to go on sale in May. By March, with a new name and more details revealed, Nvidia pushed the release to later in the year. Finally, on October 15, it was available for purchase, but only briefly.
Limited Stock and Rapid Sellouts
Nvidia’s online store was already out of stock when the sale started early in the morning. The website didn’t even check real-time inventory; it just showed a “sold out” message. Nvidia did link to four partners selling the device, but none of them had a buy button online. This made it clear that the DGX Spark was in very short supply.
Micro Center was one of the few places where people could buy the DGX Spark in person. Its website showed that most stores had between 9 to 25 units available, with some stores having more than 25. Buyers could pick up the device in-store, but reservations or pre-payments weren’t accepted. The store also limited customers to one unit each to prevent bulk buying, likely for business use rather than personal.

The DGX Spark is a small but powerful AI supercomputer. It features an Nvidia GB10 Grace Blackwell chip, 128GB of system memory, and up to 4TB of storage in a tiny 6-inch square package. It uses 240 watts of power and can perform up to 1 petaflop of calculations at FP4 precision. To put that in perspective, Nvidia’s earlier supercomputer, the DGX-1 from 2016, delivered 170 teraflops and cost over $129,000. The Spark weighs just 2.65 pounds, making it portable compared to older, bulkier systems.
The device is clearly aimed at industry users. Nvidia’s DGX chips are highly sought after for AI applications in data centers. The limited availability at retail stores is probably a move to prevent businesses from buying large quantities for their operations. Instead, Nvidia will sell partner systems from brands like Acer, Asus, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, and MSI, which will offer their own versions based on the DGX Spark design.
Why the Hype and What’s Next?
The wait and limited stock have created a buzz around the DGX Spark. It offers impressive performance in a tiny package, making it ideal for AI work and data processing. For individual consumers, the price tag of just under $4,000 might be steep, especially since it’s almost twice the cost of a high-end gaming PC.
Nvidia’s strategy seems focused on industrial and enterprise markets. The company sees the DGX Spark as part of a larger move toward compact, powerful AI systems that can be easily integrated into various environments. With partnerships already announced, more systems based on this design are expected to come to market soon.
