Opera Launches Public Access to Its Experimental AI Browser
Opera has announced that it is opening public access to Opera Neon, its latest experimental browser designed for AI enthusiasts. Previously available only through a closed “Founders” phase since October 2, the browser is now accessible to everyone without a waitlist. This move aims to give more users the chance to explore cutting-edge AI tools integrated into their browsing experience.
What Makes Opera Neon Different?
Unlike traditional web browsers, Opera Neon is built specifically for AI power users. It leverages AI agents not just to display web pages but to perform tasks, code web apps, and automate various functions. This makes it a unique testing ground for emerging AI technologies, offering users access to some of the latest models like Gemini 3 Pro and GPT 5.1.
Opera Neon acts as a sandbox for experimenting with AI-driven features before they become mainstream. It’s aimed at tech enthusiasts who want to stay ahead of the curve and test raw, developing AI tools. The browser is updated frequently, often with significant new features released every week, reflecting Opera’s commitment to innovation and community feedback.
Subscription and Key Features
To access Opera Neon, users need to subscribe at a cost of $19.90 per month. This fee unlocks access to a suite of top-tier AI models within a single workspace, eliminating the need for multiple subscriptions. Subscribers can immediately use models like Gemini 3 Pro, GPT-5.1, Veo 3.1, and Nano Banana Pro.
Among the tools available are Neon Chat, Do, and Make agents. These enable users to automate tasks such as booking trips, building websites, generating videos, and editing documents. Additionally, the ODRA deep research agent can perform quick, comprehensive research on complex topics, providing sources and synthesized information in about a minute.
Joining Opera Neon also grants access to an exclusive Discord community. Here, users can test new features first, share feedback with Opera’s developers, and influence the browser’s future development. This community-driven approach helps Opera refine the product based on real user needs and insights.
Opera Neon is now available for download from its official website. While Opera Neon offers advanced AI features through a subscription, Opera’s main browsers—Opera One, Opera GX, and Opera Air—continue to provide free AI functionalities for general users. This setup allows both casual users and AI enthusiasts to benefit from Opera’s innovative technologies.
