Now, with about 50 to 60 workers, they still use only a fraction of that space.

Most of these companies have significant funding from venture capitalists, which allows them to spend freely on impressive real estate. While the money flows, many startups are more focused on creating a flashy image rather than practical office needs.
Some companies even face questions from clients about whether they are in-person or remote, which pushes them to rent offices to meet expectations. Even startups with small teams see value in having a physical space, sometimes opening multiple offices in different locations.
