X Introduces Private Hub for Bookmarks, Likes, and Long-Form Content
4X is rolling out a new feature designed to help users organize and revisit their favorite content more easily. The platform now offers a private hub where users can keep track of bookmarks, likes, articles, and long videos they view on the platform. This addition aims to make it simpler for users to find and continue engaging with content they’ve shown interest in, without cluttering their main feed.
New History Tab on iOS
The latest update introduces a dedicated history tab available on the iOS app. This replaces the previous bookmarks section and is intended to serve as a personal content archive. According to X’s head of product, Nikita Bier, the tab helps users catch up on long-form content that they might not have time to fully watch or read in the moment.
On the new history tab, users will see their saved bookmarks, liked posts, articles, and long videos. All of this content remains private, giving users a secure space to revisit items without concerns over visibility. The feature is expected to roll out to other platforms in the future, but it’s currently exclusive to iOS.
How It Works and User Benefits
Previously, X had a bookmarks feature, but it has now been replaced by this more comprehensive history tab. The change consolidates various types of saved content into one location, making it easier to manage. Users can quickly access videos, articles, and posts they found interesting, so they don’t have to search through their entire activity feed.
The new hub also helps users keep track of long videos and articles they might want to return to later. Since likes are also stored here, it offers a quick way to revisit favorite posts without cluttering the main timeline. This is especially useful given the fast-paced nature of the platform, where content can quickly scroll past.
Despite the usefulness, some users might find the feature a bit ironic—like finding a refreshing water bottle in a grim situation—given the platform’s overall issues. Still, it’s a handy addition for those who want better control over their content consumption and discovery experience.
Overall, X’s new private hub appears to be a thoughtful update aimed at improving user engagement and content management. It provides a more organized way to keep track of what users care about, making the platform slightly more user-friendly amidst its ongoing changes.
