China’s AI and Robotics Titans Race Toward Billion-Dollar IPOs

China’s tech scene is on fire. Startups are hitting eye-popping valuations and gearing up for massive IPOs. The buzz? Building “world models” for machines that actually understand the physical world. This is not just hype. It’s a full sprint into the future.
Psibot’s $1.48 Billion Leap
Meet Psibot, a Shanghai startup that’s barely two years old but already valued at $1.48 billion. Founded in 2024, Psibot has raised about $300 million, with nearly $100 million in its current funding round. How? By building “world models” that give machines a sense of their surroundings.
Viktor Wang, one of Psibot’s founders, explains it best: “World models aim to achieve something more consequential than the large language models and chatbots.” He expects a breakthrough moment soon: “We should see the GPT-2 moment in embodied AI in two years.”
Psibot’s team is stellar. It includes a dean from Peking University, a robotics veteran with experience at Alibaba and Tencent, and a scholar from Stanford. They don’t just theorize — they gather data using custom gloves and humanoid robots. Their systems are tested in real-world settings like a Chinese logistics firm and a fiber-optic cable maker.
Chinese World-Model Startups Go Big
Psibot is not alone. Across China, companies are aggressively pushing world models. GigaAI, another startup in this space, recently filed for a Hong Kong IPO. It aims to raise a staggering $8 billion and has attracted over 30 cornerstone investors. That’s confidence.
Robotics maker AgiBot is also on the move. After restructuring last year, AgiBot is pursuing its own Hong Kong IPO. With top sponsors like Citic Securities, CICC, and Morgan Stanley, it targets a valuation between HK$40 billion and HK$50 billion. AgiBot is clearly positioning itself to be a major player in robotics and AI.
Moonshot AI and Optical Giants Prepare for Mega IPOs
Moonshot AI is accelerating fundraising with plans for a Hong Kong IPO. It aims for a $50 billion valuation. The current funding round is expected to close at $30 billion, and Moonshot plans another round as early as August. The startup even began dismantling its offshore corporate structure in May 2026 to prep for the listing. Founder Yang Zhilin is signaling that the IPO could happen within six months.
Meanwhile, Innolight, an optical transceiver maker, targets an $8 billion IPO. This could be the biggest Hong Kong listing in seven years. Lens Technology, another supplier known for its work with Apple and Tesla, is also involved in funding rounds tied to these tech surges.
Quantum Computing Moves Forward With PsiQuantum
The race isn’t just in AI and robotics. PsiQuantum, working on building full-scale quantum computers using photons as qubits, just secured a $125 million cash infusion from DARPA. PsiQuantum is part of DARPA’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative, showing deep US interest in quantum tech breakthroughs.
Yet some remain skeptical. Pete Shadbolt points out, “Their starting assumption was that quantum computing probably wasn’t going to work. And even if we were to build these machines, they’d be useless.” Despite doubts, PsiQuantum pushes forward, betting big on quantum’s future.
The Future Is Now
China’s tech startups are not waiting for the future—they’re building it. From Psibot’s world models to Moonshot AI’s billion-dollar ambitions, the race is on. With IPOs lining up in Hong Kong and massive funding rounds closing, the next wave of AI and robotics innovation is about to hit the market hard.
World models will reshape how machines interact with the real world. Quantum computing could revolutionize computing power. Investors are pouring billions into these dreams. The question is: who will lead the global charge? One thing is clear—China is charging full throttle.
