NanoBridge and Siemens Build a Custom FPGA Design Flow

NanoBridge Semiconductor has entered a partnership with Siemens to develop a customized FPGA synthesis tool for its FPGA device families. The agreement will give NanoBridge customers access to a version of Siemens’ Precision FPGA Synthesis tailored for the company’s specific devices.

The partnership brings together NanoBridge’s non-volatile FPGA and memory devices, built with its proprietary NanoBridge technology, and Siemens’ FPGA synthesis software. The collaboration is expected to support further work in FPGA design, technical support, and ecosystem building for these applications.

A synthesis flow built around NanoBridge devices

NanoBridge Semiconductor will offer a version of Precision FPGA Synthesis designed for customers working with its FPGA devices. That focus matters because the tool flow will be tailored to NanoBridge’s FPGA device families instead of serving as a general path for unrelated hardware.

The two figures named in connection with NanoBridge’s device families are NBS6503H and NBS1201. The partnership centers on helping customers use a synthesis flow that matches the way these devices are developed and supported.

FPGA synthesis converts a hardware design into a form that can be used with a particular FPGA device family. In this partnership, the tool’s role is tied directly to NanoBridge’s own devices, giving the chipmaker a way to offer customers a design process built around its technology.

Toshitsugu Sakamoto, NanoBridge Semiconductor co-founder and chief technology officer, described the company’s wider focus as follows: “NanoBridge Semiconductor is focused on advancing low-power and harsh-environment semiconductor technologies for aerospace, automotive and critical infrastructure.”

He also connected the Siemens collaboration to the customer experience around those products. “Our adoption of Siemens’ Precision FPGA Synthesis enables us to provide our customers with a synthesis flow tailored for our FPGA device families while continuing to expand the ecosystem supporting our technologies.”

Why the collaboration matters for FPGA development
