They see clear benefits and immediate positive impacts on their lives. When AI’s role is tangible and beneficial, trust tends to grow. Conversely, fears often stem from concerns about privacy, bias, or misuse by big tech companies.
How to Foster Trust and Realize AI’s Benefits
The report doesn’t just point out the trust problem—it offers solutions. One key step is changing how governments and companies talk about AI. Instead of focusing only on promises of growth or efficiency, they should highlight how AI is used for good. Showing real examples of positive, responsible AI use can help build confidence.
Another important step is establishing clear rules and safeguards to prevent misuse. When the public sees that strict regulations are in place to stop abuse or bias, their fears can lessen. Building what the report calls “justified trust” involves transparency, accountability, and a focus on benefits that everyone can see and understand.
