Throne Science just secured $10 million in a Series A round led by Will Ventures. The startup has now raised nearly $18 million since launching in 2023. Their mission? To track gut health and hydration with an AI-powered toilet camera.
Earlier in July 2026, Throne rolled out a beta version of its Gut Health AI coach. This coach uses large language models to interview users after episodes of bad gut health. It’s designed to identify lifestyle factors linked to gut wellness over time.
Throne’s technology isn’t just smart—it’s trained by experts. The system runs a dozen computer vision models developed with gastroenterologists. It analyzes visual data from the toilet to generate health insights.
Scott Hickle, CEO and co-founder, said, “We started Throne because we believe it’s inevitable that people will one day measure their health from their waste.” He described the AI coach as a conversational experience, “very similar to speaking with a dietitian or nutritionist.”
Hickle added, “The coach connects the dots between diet, lifestyle, and what’s actually happening in the gut, turning daily readings into insights users can act on.” Co-founder and CTO John Capodilupo emphasized gut health’s neglect in health tech, calling it “even more underserved.”
The funding round included investors like Emerson Collective, Workshop, LEAD VC, Salt VC, Accomplice, and Moxxie Ventures. Throne’s approach blends AI, computer vision, and expert medical input to tackle a stubborn blind spot in healthcare.

Mate Security, a cybersecurity startup, raised $35 million in a Series A led by Canaan Partners. Their total funding now exceeds $50 million. CEO Asaf Wiener highlighted a 500% revenue surge since Q3 2025. The platform uses a patent-pending context layer and Security Context Graph to fight AI-driven attacks.
Joydeep Bhattacharyya of Canaan said Mate’s strength lies in combining AI depth with operational trust. Insight Partners’ Teddie Wardi praised Mate for rebuilding security operations to handle modern AI threats.
Meanwhile, Curant.ai raised $3.1 million in seed funding to automate disability claims adjudication. Led by Diagram, the round included Humania Insurance and others. CEO John Haller said AI should simplify claims work, not complicate it. He called Curant.ai a “trusted intelligence layer” that boosts insurance professionals’ productivity without replacing their expertise.
San Francisco-based Weave secured $13.5 million to develop software tracking AI coding tools and engineer productivity. Co-founders Andrew Churchill and Adam Cohen are betting on AI’s central role in software development workflows.
These funding rounds underscore a clear trend: AI is reshaping health, security, insurance, and software productivity. Throne Science stands out by turning toilets into diagnostic tools. The rest are upgrading industries that can’t afford to fall behind in AI’s accelerating wave.
