The Future of Home Cleaning with the xLean TR1 Robot
Imagine a cleaning robot that can handle any mess effortlessly, transforming the way we keep our homes and offices tidy. The xLean TR1 is a new AI-powered robot that adapts to different cleaning needs, whether it’s deep cleaning large areas or spot cleaning small spills. Developed by xLean Robotics, a startup from CUHK’s Robotics Institute, this device is set to change the game in household cleaning technology.
How the xLean TR1 Works
The xLean TR1 features a dual-form design, allowing it to switch seamlessly from a robot to a handheld device in just one second. This quick transformation makes it versatile for cleaning both big and small spaces. When in robot mode, it uses advanced sensors and reinforcement learning algorithms to navigate tight corners and tricky areas efficiently.
In handheld mode, the device offers bi-directional electric assistance, making spot cleaning much easier. It also learns from human behavior, understanding user preferences through a process called Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF). This means the robot can improve its cleaning performance over time, becoming smarter with each use.
What Makes the xLean TR1 Unique
The secret behind its cleaning power is the Dual-Motor DirectSuction system. This technology enables the robot to clean up both solids and liquids quickly and without residue. It’s especially effective for massive spills or messes that traditional cleaners struggle with. The system uses high negative pressure to draw in everything in one step, making cleaning faster and more efficient.
To solve the challenge of separating gas and liquids in a low-profile body, the xLean team developed VortexMatrix Separation Technology. After nearly 40 prototypes and fluid simulations, they created a system that ensures no messes are left behind. This innovation makes the xLean TR1 a powerful tool for household cleaning, capable of handling a variety of spills with ease.
The device also emphasizes safety and privacy. It includes features like a privacy-first camera shutter and vision-LiDAR technology for recognition. The accompanying OMNI Station adds convenience, offering waste disposal, hot-water flushing at 60°C, and self-drying capabilities. The team behind the xLean TR1 includes experts from leading robotics companies, ensuring top-tier design and functionality.
Leading the project is Kehan Xue, founder and CEO of xLean Robotics. His vision is to create self-evolving intelligent cleaning robots that learn and adapt over time. Attendees at IFA 2025 will have the chance to experience the xLean TR1 firsthand at Hall 25, Booth 260. With a global Kickstarter launch planned soon after, this innovative robot aims to revolutionize how we clean in our daily lives.
