Claude Duet Wants to Run Your Business To-Do List

Anthropic has introduced Claude Duet, a proactive AI agent built to handle business work in the background. It can monitor connected applications, surface priorities, and carry out assignments instead of waiting for users to ask about every task.
Claude Duet is available in research preview through a waitlist. The service runs through separate apps for iOS and Android, as well as the web version of Claude.ai, and it is built around Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5.5 model.
From morning briefings to unpaid invoices
Claude Duet can prepare a morning briefing, investigate unpaid invoices, draft customer follow-ups, build financial forecasts, and create web applications. Those tasks give the assistant a broad role across business operations, rather than limiting it to writing or answering questions.
Its connections reach more than 6,000 connectors and plugins available through the Claude Marketplace. That access lets Claude Duet examine QuickBooks or Stripe records for outstanding invoices and prepare reminders, while HubSpot customer information can support draft outreach.
The agent also reaches into documents, payroll, hiring, marketing, and online stores. It can help assemble agreements for review and signature through Docusign, prepare and run Gusto payroll using employee hours and adjustments, and draft recruitment listings for publication on LinkedIn.
Claude Duet supports developing Canva campaigns and configuring or maintaining a Shopify store. It can also make online purchases through Stripe’s Link wallet and Shopify’s Shop Pay. Anthropic plans to let users use credentials stored in 1Password with permission.
Approval stays with the user
Claude Duet does not silently complete every sensitive action. It presents the intended action and asks for approval before transmitting a message, paying, signing, or deleting material.
The assistant also blocks the sharing of payment-card numbers and government-issued identifiers unless the user explicitly instructs it to share them. That places a clear checkpoint around actions that can send information, spend money, create commitments, or remove content.
Anthropic describes Claude Duet as “an AI assistant that monitors connected applications, surfaces priorities and carries out assignments in the background.” The company’s approach combines broad access to business tools with approval requests at key moments.
Preview access and subscription pricing
Claude Duet is included in Pro and Max subscriptions during the research preview, with no separate charge announced. Pro costs $20 monthly or $200 annually, while Max starts at $100 monthly.
Pro and Max customers can use Claude Duet on iOS, Android, and Claude.ai, but users must join the waitlist to try it. The research preview means access remains limited while Anthropic presents the service to early users.
Stephen Council described the launch this way: “Anthropic is joining the personal AI agent craze.” Anthropic also said the tool is in research preview with a waitlist, so it will not immediately compete for the larger market with other new agents such as Meta’s Muse and OpenAI’s Dots.
For now, Claude Duet’s pitch is clear: connect business software, identify the work that needs attention, prepare the next step, and ask before taking consequential action. Its value will depend on how well those connected tasks work together, but the preview already covers finance, sales, payroll, hiring, documents, marketing, commerce, and web applications.
