How Anthropic’s Claude Tag Transforms Teamwork Inside Slack

Anthropic launched a new AI tool called Claude Tag on June 23, 2026. It works directly inside Slack channels. Unlike earlier versions, Claude Tag stays persistent and learns over time.
This tool replaces Anthropic’s previous Claude for Slack integration. It’s now available in beta to Claude Enterprise and Team customers. Teams can call on Claude Tag simply by typing @Claude in their Slack conversations.
A Smarter AI That Remembers and Helps
Claude Tag builds a shared memory from channel history, files, and pinned items. This means it understands the context of ongoing projects and decisions. It can read conversations, break down tasks, and flag important updates without being asked.
Admins get granular control over what Claude Tag can access. They decide which channels, tools, and data the AI sees. Plus, Claude Tag can be reset or pruned to remove sensitive or outdated information. This helps teams keep control over their data and privacy.
Designed for Teams, Not Just Individuals
Claude Tag is not just a personal assistant. It’s designed as a collective team resource. It answers complex questions, summarizes long threads, drafts documents, analyzes data, and even generates code snippets. It integrates nicely with Slack’s block kit for rich, interactive responses.
It can work in ambient mode too, providing proactive updates and reminders. Claude Tag supports long-running and scheduled tasks that can last hours or days. This helps teams stay on top of their work without constant manual check-ins.
Rob Seaman, Slack’s general manager, said, “Instead of a private back-and-forth, Claude Tag shows up in the open.” This makes the AI’s work visible and shareable among team members.
Anthropic’s Strategy and Impact
Anthropic sees Claude Tag as a key part of its push into the enterprise market. The company is valued at US$965 billion, outpacing OpenAI’s US$852 billion valuation. The tool is already used internally. Around 65 percent of Anthropic’s product team’s code is generated using an internal version of Claude Tag.
Cat Wu, head of product for Claude Code at Anthropic, said, “A lot of the capabilities did exist, but actually the form factor of being able to tag it the same way that you would a coworker is really powerful.”
Claude Tag competes with Microsoft’s Copilot and Work IQ, as well as Glean Technologies. But its deep integration with Slack and focus on shared team memory sets it apart.
In the end, Claude Tag aims to improve team productivity and oversight. It builds context around projects and decisions directly where people communicate. This makes collaboration smoother and less fragmented.
