iPhone Storage Guide: When 256GB Works and When It Falls Short

For many iPhone buyers, 256GB is the starting point rather than an upgrade. That sounds like plenty, but the right choice depends on what fills the phone: photos, video, games, downloaded media, and the software Apple includes with iOS.
A 256GB iPhone can hold approximately 70,000 photos when each photo uses roughly 3MB. For people who mainly take standard photos and stream content instead of downloading it, that amount provides a large amount of room. Video and large apps change the calculation.
Why 256GB Can Disappear Faster Than Expected

Ways to Make 256GB Last Longer
Storage management can start with Photos. iCloud subscribers can enable an option that offloads older photos and videos, helping keep those files available without storing every full-size copy locally. The key is not the number printed on the box. It is the type of content stored on the phone and how often that content gets downloaded.
