Microsoft and Nvidia Open a New AI Growth Engine for UK Startups

A new launchpad for AI companies has opened across the UK and Ireland, bringing Microsoft and Nvidia together behind a focused push to turn software products into sustainable businesses. Applications are now open, and selected companies will gain technical expertise, commercial guidance, and routes toward new customers and partners.

The programme is called Frontier Launchpad, and its inaugural cohort will start in early 2027. Companies have until 27 November to apply, creating a clear deadline for software businesses that want to turn established AI work into stronger products, wider market reach, and expansion beyond their current customer base.

A practical route from AI product to sustainable business

Frontier Launchpad targets software companies based in the UK or Ireland with products already available to customers. Eligible businesses must be investing in AI or using the technology in their products, while also seeking greater market reach or expansion.

That focus gives the programme a clear job: help companies move from having an AI product to building a sustainable operation around it. Frontier Launchpad builds on the previous year’s Agentic Launchpad, extending the support model with Microsoft and Nvidia working together across technology, sales, training, and market access.

Selected participants will receive support from Microsoft AI specialists, Microsoft Marketplace advisers, cloud architects, and Nvidia technical experts. They will also receive commercial advice and opportunities to connect with possible customers and partners, linking product development with the business work needed to win and serve new markets.

The programme will guide companies through preparing products for the Microsoft Marketplace and explain co-selling, which enables Microsoft and participants to collaborate in reaching new customers. That combination gives software companies a route to present their products, strengthen their commercial plans, and explore opportunities through Microsoft’s global partner network and commercial channels.

Frontier Launchpad includes two industry pathways:

  • AI platforms and software
  • Financial services and financial technology

These pathways place the programme close to two areas where companies are building products that depend on strong software foundations, specialist expertise, and access to business customers.

Microsoft and Nvidia put their ecosystems behind the programme

Microsoft UK and Ireland CEO Darren Hardman said, “The UK and Ireland are home to some of the world’s most innovative software companies.” He added, “Through the Frontier Launchpad, we’re bringing together Microsoft’s AI capabilities, Nvidia’s technology leadership, and a powerful network to help software companies develop new products, grow faster, and create the next generation of businesses using AI.”

Nvidia will extend the programme through Nvidia Inception, which provides start-ups with technical resources, and the Nvidia Deep Learning Institute, which focuses on AI-related training. Nvidia Europe, Middle East, Africa and India start-ups director Tobias Halloran said, “The UK and Ireland have a deep pool of talent building with AI.”

Halloran added, “Through Nvidia Inception and the Nvidia Deep Learning Institute, the Frontier Launchpad will give these companies access to Nvidia’s technical expertise and training to help them build and accelerate their AI applications.”

The launch arrives after Microsoft released financial results for the quarter ending 30 September 2026, its Q1 FY27. Net income increased by 32% to $36.6bn compared with the same quarter last year, while revenue reached $92.3bn, a year-on-year increase of 19%. Operating income rose 21% to $45.9bn.

Those figures provide the wider backdrop for Microsoft’s support of software companies: the company is pairing its AI specialists, cloud architects, Marketplace advisers, partner network, and commercial channels with a programme aimed at companies that already have products in customers’ hands.

AI infrastructure becomes the next growth challenge

Frontier Launchpad is arriving alongside new infrastructure support for AI startups. DeepInfra announced a benefit for members of the NVIDIA Inception program, giving eligible startups 10 billion cached-input tokens for the NVIDIA Nemotron family models on DeepInfra’s inference platform.

DeepInfra is also expanding DeepStart, its program for early-stage AI companies, which will provide 50 billion free tokens. Nikola Borisov, co-founder and CEO of DeepInfra, said, “AI startups are moving from prototype to production faster than ever, and infrastructure can quickly become the constraint,”

Fireworks announced an expanded collaboration with NVIDIA, including plans to expand its capacity in Europe with NVIDIA Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell Platforms. The planned expansion will leverage the NVIDIA DSX AI factory platform and NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet networking for leading performance and throughput per watt.

At Fireworks Forge, its inaugural user conference, Fireworks introduced new capabilities for enterprise inference workloads. These included an Ultrafast inference preview for interactive applications that need immediate responses, multi-day prompt caching, background mode for long-running agents, and higher rate limits to support grow.

Together, these developments point toward the pressure facing AI companies after product development: access to technical knowledge, model infrastructure, enterprise customers, and reliable routes to market. Frontier Launchpad will begin its first cohort in early 2027, giving eligible UK and Ireland software companies a defined opportunity to build on the technology they already have and reach for the next stage.

Applications remain open until 27 November. For companies with customer-ready products and an AI strategy, the launchpad is now open.
