Nintendo is turning next week into a major showcase for its biggest worlds, while Sony has packed September 3 with two State of Play broadcasts and a flood of game announcements. Zelda, Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, Wolverine, Ghost of Yōtei, and plenty more are about to take center stage.
Fans can watch the streams on YouTube and Twitch, giving players two major events to track across Nintendo and PlayStation platforms. Nintendo expects excitement around its two broadcasts, and Sony has already delivered a packed set of reveals, release dates, expansions, demos, and updates.
Nintendo Brings Zelda and Switch 2 Into Focus
The first Nintendo event arrives on September 8, 2026, at 10AM ET. The Zelda 40th anniversary stream will last around 30 minutes, and Nintendo announced a remake of Ocarina of Time first announced in June.
The celebration carries an obvious Zelda focus, but the remake gives the stream a major headline beyond the anniversary itself. Nintendo also announced that Nintendo Switch Sports Resort will launch on October 22 as a Switch 2 exclusive, adding another key release to the company’s calendar.
One day later, Nintendo will host its standard Direct on September 9 at 10AM ET. That livestream is slated to last 45 minutes, followed by a two-hour Treehouse event at 10:45AM ET.
The Direct’s lineup remains more mysterious, but the timing gives Nintendo room to reveal more games, trailers, and updates. The Treehouse event then extends the spotlight with two hours of Nintendo coverage, keeping the momentum going after the main presentation ends.
Sony Packs September 3 With PlayStation Reveals
PlayStation’s back-to-back State of Play broadcasts began on September 3, 2026, at 9AM ET. The first presentation featured an extended look at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, while the second livestream, State of Play Japan, aired immediately after the first and was hosted by actor Yuki Kaji.
Sony showed release dates for Until Dawn 2 and Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, along with new looks at Ghost of Yōtei’s survival mode and story expansion, the Crimson Desert DLC, and an update for Saros. The Resident Evil movie also received attention, with its film release set for September 18.
The PlayStation calendar now stretches across the rest of 2026 and into 2027. Insomniac’s Marvel’s Wolverine is coming to PS5 on September 15, Ghost of Yōtei’s Most Wanted mode arrives on October 1, and the Crimson Desert expansion Charting the Unknown will be available on October 15.

Square Enix offered an extended look at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, which is coming on April 8, 2027. State of Play Japan opened with Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, arriving next year, and also showed The Eminence in Shadow: Phantom Echoes, which is coming next year.
The Japanese-focused presentation also included a Blue Lock crossover event running from September 24 to October 23, plus Where the Seeds Fall from CygamesEdge, Cygames’ first game under the sublabel. The action-adventure game is arriving on November 5, while World Phasebound Control Authority has no announced release date.
Demos, Expansions, and Surprises Fill the Road Ahead
Stupid Never Dies will be released on October 21, and its demo is available today. SlashZero has a spring 2027 release window with a demo available today, while Uncanyon will arrive next year and Keeper is available on PS5 today.
Konami’s Rev.Noir will arrive in 2027, while Rhapsony in Scarlet has no release window yet. Expansions for Echoes of Aincrad and Digimon Story: Tamer’s Tale are coming in winter and next year, respectively, and Crown of No Quarter, also called CONQ, will be available next year.
Daba: Land of Water Scar has a spring 2207 release window, and Ghost of Yōtei’s story expansion, Echoes of Sekigahara, has been announced. Sony also confirmed that Mycopunk will be available on PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra tiers in the coming months.
Classic games are joining the service lineup too. Mega Man X: Command Mission will hit the Classic Catalog for Premium subscribers this month, while Dino Crisis 2 will be available later this year.
Saros is getting a free update later this year, and Gran Turismo 7 has a two-part update coming soon, with the first part arriving next month and the second in December. GTA 6 was mentioned during State of Play, alongside limited-edition DualSense controllers in black and white for $85.
The showcase even reached beyond games. Mattel is releasing a brick-building set for the original Xbox, while Lego is releasing a PlayStation 1 brick-building set on October 1 for $180.
With Nintendo’s Zelda stream, its 45-minute Direct, and the Treehouse event arriving next week, the September schedule is only getting started. Sony has already filled September 3 with announcements that reach into 2027 and beyond, leaving players with a clear question: which reveal will own the spotlight when the next livestream begins?
