ABB Extends Wipro Partnership for AI-Powered Workplace Operations

ABB has renewed its Digital Workplace Services contract with Wipro, extending a relationship that now brings AI-enabled workplace support across ABB’s global operations. The deal covers employee experience, device lifecycle management and endpoint security, giving the workplace program a wider technology focus.
The renewed agreement will see Wipro continue end-to-end digital workplace services for ABB. Day-to-day operations will run on Wipro’s AI-powered delivery platform, WINGS, while the wider work will draw on Wipro Intelligence, the company’s suite of AI platforms and offerings.
AI Moves Into Daily Workplace Support
Wipro will use automation, AI-based service tools and workplace modernisation measures to support employee experience. The goal is to make workplace services easier to manage while giving employees access to tools that can respond to common needs through automated support.
Wipro’s SmartOps capability will also play a central role. SmartOps is the company’s AI for IT operations, or AIOps, platform, and the renewed contract will use it to make workplace services more autonomous and predictive. Its capabilities include GenAI-powered self-service, virtual agents, auto-remediation and AI-assisted dispatch.
These functions cover different parts of workplace support. GenAI-powered self-service and virtual agents can handle employee requests, while auto-remediation addresses certain issues through automated action. AI-assisted dispatch supports the process of directing work where it is needed.
Wipro will also use telemetry and usage data to manage the lifecycle of employee devices and support endpoint security operations. That connects device management with security work, covering equipment from its use through the wider lifecycle while supporting ABB’s digital workplace environment.
A Partnership Built Around Global Scale
ABB consumer experience head Ana Jauregui described the workplace as a critical part of the company’s operations. “As ABB operates at global scale with a highly diverse workforce, the reliability, security, and user experience of our digital workplace are critical.”
Her comment places three priorities at the center of the renewed agreement: reliability, security and user experience. The contract combines those priorities with automation, device data and AI-based service tools across ABB’s global operations.
Madhavan R, Wipro Switzerland managing director and country head, connected the renewal to the companies’ existing relationship. “ABB’s continued confidence in Wipro reflects the strength of this enduring partnership and our shared commitment to innovation.”
The work also builds on Wipro’s existing presence in the industrial and manufacturing sector. That background gives the renewed contract a clear connection to Wipro’s work with businesses that manage large operations and technology environments.
Wipro expanded its capabilities in this area through its acquisition of the Digital Transformation Solutions unit of Harman, a Samsung subsidiary. Wipro announced the acquisition in August 2025, and the deal closed in December 2025.
The Wider AI Spending Picture
The ABB and Wipro agreement arrives alongside a wider push toward AI systems, workplace automation and the infrastructure needed to run them. IT spending is expected to reach $6.31 trillion this year, placing AI-related services within a technology market operating at a vast scale.
Nvidia’s vice president of deep learning highlighted that the cost of compute far exceeds that of employees. That observation points to the expense tied to the systems behind AI services, including the computing capacity needed for automation, virtual agents and predictive operations.
Other figures show the size of recent AI infrastructure and cloud commitments. EuroHPC selected Bull for a $450 million LUMI-AI supercomputer deployment, while Anthropic agreed to a $35 billion cloud contract with Lambda.
ABB’s renewed contract with Wipro focuses on the workplace rather than a supercomputer or cloud deal, but it uses the same broad AI shift in a practical setting. WINGS, SmartOps, telemetry and usage data will support the everyday systems employees rely on, while endpoint security and device lifecycle management remain part of the service.
The renewal was announced on September 2, 2026. It keeps Wipro responsible for ABB’s end-to-end digital workplace services and adds AI-enabled tools designed to support a more autonomous, predictive and modern workplace operation.
