Tilly Norwood is designed to look like a young woman between 18 and 49 years old. The story will explore Tilly being drawn into a rogue program. This program pushes her to experiment with human emotions. The film is described as a “coming-of-age story infused with existential AI chaos.”
Particle6 said the movie will blend traditional filmmaking with AI technology. Human directors, actors, and crew will work alongside AI specialists. The company’s CEO, Eline van der Velden, said, “AI can support premium narrative filmmaking, but only with substantial amounts of human craft, skill, judgement and time.”
Hollywood Pushback Against AI Actors
Hollywood’s major unions and actors are pushing back against AI in film. SAG-AFTRA, the actors’ union, does not recognize Tilly Norwood as a real actor. The union says AI performers rely on “stolen performances” that harm human actors’ jobs. They argue AI characters lack life experience and real emotion.
Critics also question AI’s ability to connect with audiences. Richard Crouse, a film critic, said AI performances feel hollow. He also noted Tilly Norwood has almost no social media presence. That lack of interaction makes it harder for Gen Z viewers to connect with her.

Particle6 insists Tilly Norwood is not meant to replace human actors. They say AI can only enhance storytelling when paired with human skill. Van der Velden emphasized that AI needs “substantial human craft, skill, judgement and time” to create quality film.
For now, Misaligned has no other cast members announced. The film does not yet have a release date. This project will test if AI-led storytelling can win over critics and viewers alike.
