Ayaneo Pocket Micro 2 Brings Big Upgrades in a Compact Design

Ayaneo has revealed the Pocket Micro 2, a new handheld gaming device set to launch on June 26, 2026. This compact gadget offers several improvements over its predecessor, including a bigger battery, better controls, and a fresh design. Pre-orders open the same day, starting at $239 from Ayaneo’s official site.

The Pocket Micro 2 features a 3.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 960 by 640 pixels. It weighs just 248 grams, making it light enough to carry around easily. Inside, the device runs on a Snapdragon 865 CPU and Adreno 650 GPU, promising smooth performance. It boasts 220% better performance compared to the original Pocket Micro.

One of the biggest upgrades is the battery. The new model includes a 3950mAh cell, a 52% increase over the original 2600mAh battery. This means longer playtimes without needing a charge. Ayaneo highlighted this boost, calling it a “huge upgrade” for the device’s endurance.

Refined Controls and Build Quality

Ayaneo redesigned the controls for better comfort and usability. The Pocket Micro 2 has recessed TMR joysticks with LED backlights. These new thumbsticks sit flush with the device, unlike previous models where they stuck out. This change improves pocketability and reduces accidental inputs.

The device also features a metal middle frame and brushed-metal sides. This gives it a sturdy feel and a premium look. Other design touches include a glass front panel and a 3.5mm headphone jack, along with a built-in microphone and a USB-C port for charging and data.

Multiple Variants and Color Options

There are three versions of the Pocket Micro 2, each with different RAM and storage options. The entry model comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Early bird buyers can get this version for $235, with retail price set at $265.

The mid-tier variant offers 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, priced at $279 for early birds and $309 at retail. A special edition in Stardust Purple also features 8GB RAM and 256GB storage but costs $309 early bird and $339 retail. The device is also available in Frosty White and Midnight Black colors.

Ayaneo plans to gauge demand carefully. They said, “We’ll emulate the level of demand and determine whether it can meet the minimum order quantity requirements for another production run.” This means future production depends on how well the Pocket Micro 2 sells initially.

The Pocket Micro 2 runs Android 13, giving users access to a wide range of apps and games. Its compact size and powerful specs make it a strong option in the crowded Android handheld market. It faces competition from brands like Retroid, AYN, and Anbernic, but these upgrades help it stand out.

Overall, the Pocket Micro 2 improves on several fronts. It keeps the small form factor but adds a bigger battery, better sticks, and a metal body. Prices start reasonably for what it offers, making it an exciting choice for portable gaming fans. The full reveal will happen during a livestream on June 26, 2026.
