Fitbit Edge Brings Repairable Hardware and Smarter Health Tracking

Google has revealed the Fitbit Edge, a new health and fitness tracker that combines longer battery life, expanded exercise tracking and a repairable design. The device will reach stores on October 27, 2026, starting at $179.99, giving Fitbit fans a new option with a replaceable battery and a full week of power.
The launch also brings new tracking upgrades across Fitbit devices and Pixel Watches. Google is building a broader health platform around the Edge, with automatic activity detection, Health Guardian alerts and a metal mesh accessory for the Fitbit Air.
A Fitness Tracker Built to Keep Going
The Fitbit Edge carries a 65mAh battery that can last up to seven days on a full charge. When time is short, five minutes of charging can provide a full day of battery life, turning a brief power boost into a useful workout-ready feature.
Google is also calling the Fitbit Edge its first repairable fitness tracker with a replaceable battery. That design gives the device a longer path beyond its first battery cycle, although the available facts do not include details about the replacement process.
The Edge includes built-in GPS with a 40 percent improvement in tracking accuracy. It can track more than 50 exercise modes, while an update to automatic activity tracking expands the list of recognized workouts from 10 to over 100 across the Fitbit Air, Fitbit Edge and Pixel Watches 3, 4 and 5.
That update nearly doubles automatic activity tracking accuracy. The Fitbit Edge also delivers 15 percent more accurate sleep stage detection, adding another layer to its health and fitness data.
- More than 50 exercise modes
- 40 percent improved built-in GPS tracking accuracy
- Up to seven days of battery life
- Full-day battery life from five minutes of charging
- 15 percent more accurate sleep stage detection
- IP68 rating and water resistance to 50 metres
Health Guardian Expands the Fitbit Picture
The Fitbit Edge features Google’s Health Guardian, designed to detect major shifts in health metrics over time. Google announced that Health Guardian is coming to the Fitbit Air and Fitbit Edge later this month under the Premium subscription.
Google is also including three months of Google Health Premium with purchase. The feature gives the Edge a role beyond workout counting, using changes in health metrics as part of a longer view of the user’s data.
The wider Google Health platform includes links with Peloton and MyFitnessPal, while Abbott is listed as a medtech company partnering with Google. The launch places the Fitbit Edge inside a growing group of connected health tools without changing its focus on everyday fitness tracking.
The Edge also has 46 percent more viewing area on its display compared to the Charge 6. That gives the tracker more room for the information users check during workouts and throughout the day.
Four Core Colours and a Stephen Curry Edition
Google will offer the Fitbit Edge in four colours: Obsidian, Fog, Olive and Canyon. The company is also introducing a Stephen Curry Special Edition, which starts at $219.99.
The Fitbit Edge costs £159.99 in the United Kingdom. The combination of regional pricing, new tracking features and a replaceable battery makes the Edge a notable hardware move for Fitbit.
Google has also introduced Metal Mesh, a new metal mesh band for the Fitbit Air. The band will come in Champagne Gold or Polished Silver for $70, with pre-orders opening next week before the accessory arrives on October 27.
There is also a bundle price of $150 for an Obsidian Fitbit Air and the Metal Mesh band. That gives Fitbit Air buyers another path into the updated accessory lineup while the Fitbit Edge moves toward its store launch.
The October 27 Launch Is the Next Test
Google announced the Fitbit Edge and its related updates on October 12, 2026. The company says the new tracker will be in stores on October 27 for $179.99, while the Stephen Curry Special Edition starts at $219.99 and the Edge costs £159.99.
With a replaceable battery, seven-day endurance, more than 50 exercise modes and stronger automatic activity tracking, the Fitbit Edge is aimed at people who want one device to cover workouts, sleep and longer-term health changes. The October 27 arrival will show how strongly that combination connects with buyers.
