Samsung Devices Still Getting Updates Through 2033

Samsung’s software support map has reached a turning point in 2026. Android 17-based One UI 9 has already shipped on devices like the Galaxy Fold 8 series and the Flip 8, but older models are moving toward very different update deadlines.
The longest support timelines belong to a small group of devices, including the Active 5 Pro and the Galaxy S26 FE. That makes the answer to “which Samsung device lasts the longest?” more complicated than simply choosing the newest flagship.
The longest Samsung support timelines in 2026
Samsung’s support periods depend on the device category. Flagship phones receive up to seven years of support, mid-range devices get about five to six years, and budget models receive up to four years.
Among the listed devices, the Galaxy Active 5 Pro has the furthest stated Android support deadline, lasting until 2033. The Galaxy S26 FE also has a support timeline reaching September 2033, while the Galaxy A06 5G will continue receiving Android updates until February 2031.
Those dates put these devices far ahead of several older Samsung products that are nearing the end of their update windows. The Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra will receive Android updates until February 2027, giving owners a clear date to watch.
Samsung’s foldable lineup shows the same split. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 reached the end of their Android update support in August 2026, while the Fold 5, Flip 5 and newer models continue to receive updates.
- Galaxy Active 5 Pro: Android updates until 2033
- Galaxy S26 FE: updates until September 2033
- Galaxy A06 5G: Android updates until February 2031
- Galaxy S23 series: Android updates until February 2027
- Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4: Android updates ended in August 2026
Samsung phones and tablets approaching cutoff dates
The Galaxy A-series has a wide range of support deadlines, even among devices that share the same family name. The Galaxy A06 4G lost Android updates in August 2026, but the Galaxy A06 5G remains supported until February 2031.
The Galaxy A15 will receive updates until December 2027, while the Galaxy A24 remains supported until May 2027. The Galaxy A34 and A54 5G both reach their Android update deadline in March 2027.
The Galaxy A73 no longer receives updates as of April 2026. That leaves its support status very different from newer A-series models, especially the A06 5G and Galaxy A15.
Samsung’s tablets also have deadlines spread across several years. The Galaxy Tab S9, S9+ and Tab S9 Ultra will receive Android updates until August 2027. The Tab S9 FE+ and FE last longer, with updates continuing until October 2027.
The Galaxy Tab A9+ and A9 receive Android updates until October 2026, putting them close to the edge of support. The Galaxy Tab Active 5 receives Android updates until January 2028, while the Active 5 Pro extends all the way to 2033.
- Galaxy A15: updates until December 2027
- Galaxy A24: updates until May 2027
- Galaxy A34 and A54 5G: Android updates until March 2027
- Galaxy Tab S9 series: Android updates until August 2027
- Tab S9 FE+ and FE: updates until October 2027
- Galaxy Tab A9+ and A9: Android updates until October 2026
- Galaxy Tab Active 5: Android updates until January 2028
Samsung wearables have a shorter window in this list. The Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro from 2022 will receive Wear OS updates until December 2026.
How to check whether your Galaxy device is still supported
Manufacturers do not warn users before cutting off software and security updates. Support simply ends, and the device keeps working as it did the day before, but it becomes more vulnerable to security threats.
Start by checking the latest security patch date. On a Samsung phone, open Settings > About Phone and look for the security patch date. If that date is more than three to six months old, the device could be approaching its support cutoff or may have already passed it.
The patch date shows when the phone last received a fix, not whether it remains eligible for future updates. Google Play system updates also roll out separately from full operating system updates, so users should treat those as different parts of the device’s software support.
Owners of unsupported phones can reduce risk by enabling automatic app updates, avoiding sideloaded apps, turning on two-factor authentication and enabling automatic backups. Auditing installed apps, revoking unnecessary permissions and avoiding public Wi-Fi without a VPN can also protect data, while upgrading remains an option when the device no longer receives fixes.
Support policies are not identical across manufacturers. Google Pixel 8 and newer devices get seven years of updates, Samsung’s Galaxy S24 line and Z Fold/Flip6 get seven years, older Galaxy A-series and flagships from 2019 get four years, and some budget models get six years. Google Pixel 6 Pro reached the end of support in October 2026.
The European Union’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Product Regulation requires manufacturers to provide at least five years of software updates for new smartphones sold within the region starting in June 2025. As Samsung’s 2026 update deadlines arrive, checking the exact model and security patch date is the fastest way to know whether a device still has time left.
