Google Wallet recently introduced a new feature that lets parents set up a digital spending pot for their children and teenagers. They can top up this pot whenever they want. Kids can then spend this money using Google Wallet on their Android phones or Wear OS devices wherever Google Pay is accepted.
Google described this tool as a way to help parents teach healthy financial habits. Parents get a clear view of their child’s spending through a list of transactions. If they use Google’s Family Link, they can also receive push notifications about the activity. This lets parents stay informed without constantly checking their kids’ devices.
Besides just watching spending, parents can step in if needed. They can remotely pause spending with a “spending timeout” or even lock the child’s account if a device goes missing. This adds a layer of security and control to keep money safe.
New Tracking Tech Joins the Family Toolbox
Security and peace of mind go hand in hand with managing kids’ money. Google is also preparing to launch a new Bluetooth tracker called the Pixel Tag. It’s expected to debut at the Made by Google event on August 12, 2026, alongside the Pixel 11 phone. The Pixel Tag looks like a small pebble and comes in a grey “fog light” color. It’s compact, lightweight, and built for durability.
The Pixel Tag works with Google’s Find My Device network, which started in 2024 and was rebranded as Find Hub last year. This network helps locate lost items. The Pixel Tag also has a loudspeaker to help find things that are nearby. Privacy and data protection are key design points for this tracker, so users’ personal info stays safe.
The Pixel Tag should cost about €34.90 in Europe, roughly £29 in the UK. It aims to compete with products like Samsung’s Galaxy SmartTag 2 and the Moto Tag 2. The Moto Tag 2 features Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology, Bluetooth 6.0, water and dust resistance rated IP68, and a battery life lasting over 600 days.
