Samsung’s Next Galaxy Event May Reveal a New S26 Phone

Samsung is planning another Galaxy Event for August 27, with the newest addition to the Galaxy S26 series set to take the spotlight. The Galaxy S26 FE may be the device Samsung unveils, giving the company another phone to place within its current flagship lineup.
The event will be available to watch online. Samsung will livestream the unveiling of the S26 device on its website and YouTube account on August 27 at 8AM Eastern time.
What the Galaxy S26 FE may bring
The Galaxy S26 FE is expected to use a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with Full-HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. That combination points to a large screen with smooth motion, while the Full-HD+ resolution keeps the display specification clear and focused on the core viewing experience.
Samsung may power the phone with Exynos 2500. The processor name places the Galaxy S26 FE within Samsung’s own Exynos hardware plans, while the rest of the listed specifications focus on the display and camera system.
The camera setup may include a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. Together, those cameras would cover standard photography, wider scenes, and telephoto shots, giving the Galaxy S26 FE three distinct camera options.
Samsung has not stated in these details that the Galaxy S26 FE will be the event’s only announcement. The company is set to unveil the newest addition to the Galaxy S26 series, and the FE model may be that device.
A wider foldable could be part of Samsung’s next plans
Samsung might also be making a foldable device that is even wider than the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The device likely will not use the same 4:3 aspect ratio as the Z Fold 8, pointing to a different approach for the main display.
The goal is a screen aspect ratio optimized for video viewing, with 16:9 or 16:10 listed as possible options. Those shapes would move the foldable display away from the 4:3 format and toward the proportions used for much of the video content people watch.
The question comes from the limits of the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s display design. The Daily Tech Feed wrote: “Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 is marketed as perfect for full-screen video, but its 4:3 main display leads to letterboxing for most content. The 10:16 cover screen fares better but isn’t flawless. Consumers should consider these aspect ratio limitations when evaluating the device’s…”
A wider screen could address that concern, but the information about the new foldable remains tied to Samsung’s development plans. The device is not described as part of the August 27 Galaxy Event, and the available details connect it to a later foldable lineup.
Five foldables planned for 2027
Samsung is developing five foldable devices for 2027. The group includes follow-ups to the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8, along with a refreshed Galaxy Z TriFold.
The Galaxy Z TriFold was discontinued, likely because it cost $2,900 at launch. A refreshed version appearing in Samsung’s 2027 plans would put that model back into the company’s foldable discussion, even though the earlier Galaxy Z TriFold did not continue.
Samsung Unpacked 2027 is likely to be held next July. That timing places the broader foldable plans ahead of the expected event, while the August 27 Galaxy Event remains focused on the newest addition to the Galaxy S26 series.
For now, the clearest near-term details concern the Galaxy S26 FE: a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, Full-HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, Exynos 2500, and three rear cameras led by a 50-megapixel main sensor. Samsung will reveal the S26 device through its website and YouTube account on August 27 at 8AM Eastern time.
