Google has opened pre-orders for Googlebook, a new laptop lineup that brings Android technology to desktop computers. The five-model range comes from Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Asus, with prices starting at $899 and devices set to arrive on October 4, 2026.
Googlebook combines the Android technology stack with desktop foundations from ChromeOS, creating a distinct operating system designed for both x86 and ARM chips. Google says the system will work with an Android phone from the first sign-in, giving the laptops a closer connection to the mobile devices many people already use.
Five laptops, one connected platform
The launch lineup covers several designs and price points. Acer’s Googlebook 14 starts at $899 and is the only convertible model in the group. Dell’s XPS Googlebook starts at $1,199 and focuses on a balance of height, weight, and display, while the 2.5-pound machine sits between the other models in portability.
HP’s Googlebook 14 starts at $1,299 and puts its focus on design. Lenovo’s Googlebook 15 also starts at $1,299 and carries a 15-inch display, listed at 15.3 inches in the lineup details. Asus rounds out the group with a Googlebook 14 starting at $1,299, and the model weighs 2.2 pounds.
Across the five laptops, Google and its partners use materials such as aluminum, magnesium alloy, and carbon fiber. Touchscreen options reach up to 2.8K OLED resolution, and every model includes a backlit custom keyboard with a large haptic glass trackpad.
The hardware also includes audio configurations with up to six speakers and Dolby Atmos, along with noise-canceling microphones. Each laptop has a Glowbar exterior light that turns on when the device boots, shows the battery level, and can be customized by developers.
Google has also changed two familiar keyboard controls. A G key opens Gemini, while the Caps key doubles as the Quick Insert key. Those details give the laptops a visible connection to Google’s AI tools without making the machines depend on a separate keyboard or accessory.
Android apps, phone links, and built-in AI
Googlebook’s biggest software pitch is that Android apps run natively, without virtual machine behavior getting in the way. Googlebooks will support more than 20,000 Play Store titles, and many of them support cross-device play, letting users move between compatible devices.
The platform will also enforce developer verification requirements for apps, similar to Android phones. Google plans to roll that system out across Googlebooks next year, adding another layer of control over the software that runs on the laptops.
Phone integration goes beyond Android devices. Google offers a new Link to iOS app that lets iPhone users access messages and some notifications from the desktop. For Android phone owners, Googlebook is designed to connect from the first sign-in, making the mobile-to-laptop relationship a central part of the product.
Google’s AI features include Magic Pointer, which suggests contextual actions when users wiggle the cursor, and Rambler, an AI-powered voice dictation engine. The processors support those features with NPUs rated at more than 45 TOPS of on-device AI processing.
At launch, buyers can choose between Intel Core Ultra Series 3 and Snapdragon X Elite processors. Memory starts at 16GB of RAM across the portfolio, with some models offering 32GB. Google claims up to 14 hours of video playback and up to 16 hours of web browsing.
Subscriptions and long-term support
Every Googlebook includes 12 months of Google AI Pro, 5TB of cloud storage, and access to Gemini Advanced tools. Buyers also receive three months of YouTube Premium, Adobe Photoshop, and a complimentary year of GeForce NOW.
That bundle gives the Googlebook launch more than a hardware angle. The laptops arrive with storage, AI tools, creative software, video service access, and cloud gaming benefits already attached, although the included periods differ by service.
Google has also promised up to 10 years of feature drops and software updates for Googlebook OS. That support period gives the new platform a long runway as Google refines its blend of Android and ChromeOS foundations.
Pre-orders opened on September 21, 2026, and the five Googlebooks will arrive on October 4. With prices ranging from $899 to $1,299, the lineup gives Google a direct way to bring Android apps, phone connections, and on-device AI into a broader laptop platform.
