PlayStation Network is down. All of it. Sony’s entire gaming service is offline, leaving thousands locked out.
Since early afternoon on July 24, 2026, players can’t sign in, use the PlayStation Store, manage accounts, or stream games. The outage spans PS Vita, PS4, and PS3 platforms. Even PlayStation Direct is affected.
The disruption also delayed the EA Sports FC 26 championship at the Esports World Cup. Competitive gaming grinds to a halt when infrastructure fails.
Sony confirmed the outage the same day. The company warned users about sign-in issues, account management problems, and store access failures. Their status page said “all services are experiencing issues” and promised to resolve them “as soon as possible.” No timeline or cause was given.
Curiously, Sony has not acknowledged the outage on its official PlayStation Support social channels. Meanwhile, social media is flooded with complaints from players who cannot log in, load games, or even shut down consoles properly.
This isn’t Sony’s first rodeo. In February 2025, PSN went down for over 24 hours, leaving thousands without access. Sony later apologized and declared the network “fully recovered.”
Adding context, a pro-Iran hacking group known as 313 Team claimed a cyber-attack on Microsoft 365 the same day. They targeted major services like SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive, hitting “main servers” and causing outages. The group stated it targets western systems “actively used to serve the enemy” and seeks revenge for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death in a US-backed Israeli air strike earlier this year.
While no link between the PSN outage and 313 Team’s claim has been confirmed, the coincidence is notable. The gaming giant’s digital ecosystem remains vulnerable, even as Sony prepares to retire physical game discs by 2028 and shift entirely to digital distribution.
The current outage exposes risks in that plan. When all services depend on a single network, a failure can freeze an entire community.
For now, PlayStation users remain offline. Sony is working on a fix but remains tight-lipped. The clock is ticking for gamers and organizers alike.
