Retro Bowl College+ Brings Unlocked College Football to Apple Arcade

Retro football just found a new home. Apple Arcade added Retro Bowl College+ to its roster on August 6, 2026, bringing New Star Games’ college football spin-off to the service with its expanded features already unlocked.
Retro Bowl College+ is the Apple Arcade version of Retro Bowl College, which New Star Games released in September 2023. It keeps the series’ retro styling from day one, but shifts the focus from the original game’s professional football setup to the messier business of college management.
That means recruiting, limited budgets, and player GPAs join the football action. Because apparently calling plays was not enough paperwork for one game.
The Apple Arcade release includes an expanded 12-player roster, kick returns, a detailed team and conference editor, and Exhibition Mode. It also adds a new League Style option and updated league data for 2026, giving the college spin-off a fresh set of rules and information without changing its retro foundation.
A cleaner version of the college game
Retro Bowl College+ skips setup and starts with its features already unlocked. The game includes no ads and no in-app purchases, removing the extra spending built into the regular version of Retro Bowl College.
The standard game remains free on the App Store, but it offers a $0.99 Unlimited Version and Coaching Credit packs ranging from $1.99 to $9.99. The Apple Arcade edition takes a different route: its expanded roster, editors, kick returns, Exhibition Mode, and League Style option are part of the package from the start.
That distinction matters because Retro Bowl College is built around more than quick matches. Its college-specific management problems ask players to deal with recruiting, limited budgets, and player GPAs, while the team and conference editor lets them shape the structure around those decisions.
The result is not a new direction for the series so much as a fuller version of the college formula. New Star Games has used the Apple Arcade release to gather the main features under one roof instead of scattering them across unlocks and credit packs.
From a 2020 mobile release to the full series
New Star Games released the original Retro Bowl on mobile in January 2020. Simon Read, the creator of Retro Bowl, said revisiting Tecmo football games from the 1980s and ’90s “was all the inspiration I needed …”
That influence remains visible in the series’ retro styling, which has stayed in place from day one. The games build on that foundation with team management, and Retro Bowl College applies the approach to more than 250 teams while adding the problems that come with college football.
Retro Bowl College arrived in September 2023 as the series’ college football spin-off. Its Apple Arcade edition now gives players the 12-player roster, kick returns, detailed team and conference editing, Exhibition Mode, and updated 2026 league data without ads or in-app purchases.
Apple Arcade now carries the whole Retro Bowl series. For anyone already using the service, Retro Bowl College+ is a tidy addition; for everyone else, it is a reminder that pixelated football can still find new ways to create administrative headaches.
