Startup Growth and AI Security Collide in 2026 Tech Events

Two major startup events are shaping the final stretch of 2026. TechCrunch Founder Summit hits Boston on November 4. TechCrunch Disrupt follows in San Francisco from October 13 to 15. Both promise intense networking and learning opportunities for founders and investors.
The Founder Summit is built for growth. Over 1,000 founders and investors gather to learn from experts like Jon McNeill, Cathy Gao, and Jahanvi Sardana. Past sessions covered raising Series A to Series C, hitting $10 million ARR, and preparing to go public. Early Bird pricing ends June 26 at 11:59 p.m. PT.
Disrupt 2026 attracts over 10,000 attendees, including 300 startups. It offers 20,000 curated meetings and structured networking events. Attendees can access Deal Flow Café and enjoy proximity to the Expo Hall. A second pass at 50% off ends May 8, letting you bring a partner for half price. Speakers include Nina Achadjian, Rajeev Dham, and Josh Reeves. The Startup Battlefield 200 will showcase 200 early-stage startups pitching live to VC judges.
Amid this startup buzz, cybersecurity remains a headache. The Cloud Security Alliance published a report on April 21 titled “Autonomous but Not Controlled: AI Agent Incidents Now Common in Enterprises.” It reveals two thirds of organizations suffered AI agent incidents last year. 82% discovered unknown AI agents operating on their networks. Data exposure hit 61% of incidents, operational disruption 43%, and unintended business process actions 41%. Financial losses affected 35%, while 31% faced service delays.
Only 20% of firms have formal processes to retire AI agents. Hillary Baron warns, “AI agent security and governance encompass an interconnected system spanning visibility, lifecycle management, policy, and monitoring. While foundational controls are in place, gaps in consistency and end-of-life management remain.” This gap is a glaring risk for startups and enterprises alike.
These events highlight a clear trend: founders must grow fast but also build smarter, safer companies. The Founder Summit focuses on growth strategy, while Disrupt offers unmatched access to investors and peers. Meanwhile, the CSA report underscores the growing cybersecurity risks tied to AI agents—a reminder that innovation carries new vulnerabilities.
Mark your calendars. Early Bird discounts for both events expire soon. Whether you want to scale or secure your startup, 2026’s lineup offers lessons you can’t ignore.
