LG Expands Sound Suite as Google Prepares a New TV Streamer

LG is expanding its Sound Suite home theater system with two major additions: DTS:X support and Google Cast. The changes give the H7 soundbar new audio and streaming capabilities, while LG continues work on a Media Connect Hub for DTS:X devices.

LG announced the Sound Suite updates on October 14, 2026. The new software is already rolling out in some regions, although the full set of features centers on the H7 soundbar and future hardware that LG has not finished developing.

DTS:X comes to the H7 soundbar

The key addition is DTS:X support for the H7 soundbar. DTS:X is also part of LG’s plans for the Media Connect Hub, a device that is currently in development and will connect compatible external source devices to DTS:X systems.

That means the Media Connect Hub will enable DTS:X from compatible external source devices. LG has teased the hub as part of its wider Sound Suite expansion, but the company has not provided a release date in the available details.

The H7 also now supports Google Cast, adding another way to send content to the soundbar. The feature arrives alongside expanded network compatibility, with Sound Suite adding support for Wi-Fi 6 GHz networks and 5 GHz DFS channels.

LG is also adding support for dual W7 subwoofer setups. Together, the new audio format, Google Cast support, broader network compatibility, and dual-subwoofer support mark the main changes in the current Sound Suite update.

LG’s Media Connect Hub remains in development

The Media Connect Hub is separate from the software features already reaching some regions. LG is developing it for DTS:X devices, and its planned role is to handle DTS:X from compatible external source devices.

That distinction matters because the H7’s DTS:X support is available through the Sound Suite update, while the hub remains a future product. LG has teased the device, but the verified details do not include its price, launch date, or complete hardware specifications.

For now, the Sound Suite changes focus on compatibility. The H7 gains DTS:X and Google Cast, the system adds support for Wi-Fi 6 GHz networks and 5 GHz DFS channels, and LG adds the option to use two W7 subwoofers.

Google is also preparing an upgraded TV Streamer

Google is working on an upgraded TV Streamer, with details emerging on October 9, 2026. The new model is expected to include microphones on the device, presence sensing, a faster processor, and additional storage.

Google is also preparing an updated remote for the new TV Streamer. The remote will have two more shortcut buttons than the original model, giving the refreshed device a different control layout.

The original Google TV Streamer launched in September 2024. It recently received a $50 price hike, taking its price up to $149.

The timing places Google’s upgraded model alongside LG’s expanded Sound Suite plans, but the two products serve different roles. LG is adding audio formats, casting, network support, and subwoofer options to its home theater system, while Google is working on new hardware for its TV Streamer.

Neither the upgraded TV Streamer’s release date nor the Media Connect Hub’s launch date is included in the available details. For now, LG’s Sound Suite updates are rolling out in some regions, and Google’s next TV Streamer remains in development.
