Amazon Brings Page-Turn Buttons Back to Kindle

Kindle buttons are back. Amazon announced new Kindle models and accessories on October 1, 2026, bringing physical page-turn controls to selected covers and a Bluetooth remote.

The new Kindle Click is a $34.99 Bluetooth remote that connects to an ereader and flips pages without requiring readers to reach for the device. It works with Kindles from 2024 and newer, including all Kindle models currently shipping and every new model Amazon introduced today.

Amazon also unveiled the $79.99 Page-Turn-Cover, which adds physical buttons to the Kindle Paperwhite and Colorsoft. The cover works only with the new Paperwhite and Colorsoft Signature Edition models equipped with pogo pins.

Those pogo pins sit on the rear of the Signature Edition Kindles and connect to the page-turn magnetic case, as well as an optional charging dock. Amazon will sell the charging dock for $59.99, while the page-turn magnetic case costs $79.99.

New colors, storage, and aluminum bodies

The base Kindle starts at $149.99 and comes in two new colors: ube purple and graphite. The new Kindle has 16GB of storage, is a millimeter thinner, and opens books 30 percent faster.

Amazon also introduced an aluminum Kindle for $189.99. It doubles storage to 32GB and removes ads, because apparently the premium version needed one fewer small annoyance. The aluminum Kindle with a cover costs $239.98 together.

The new plastic and aluminum colors cover the entire ereader, not just the backside. Amazon did not change the display specifications for the new Kindle Paperwhite and Colorsoft models, but it did change their color options.

The color performance of the new Colorsoft is similar to the last-generation model. That leaves the updated lineup focused on physical controls, materials, storage, and color rather than a new display experience.

Signature Edition models require the right hardware

The aluminum Signature Edition Paperwhite costs $249.99, while the aluminum Signature Edition Colorsoft costs $319.99. Both models include pogo pins for the magnetic page-turn case and charging dock, along with a USB-C port.

The accessory compatibility has a clear boundary. The Page-Turn-Cover and charging dock work only with Signature Edition Kindles launched today that have pogo pins; the Kindle Click has broader support across newer Kindles.

All devices Amazon announced are available for pre-order now, and the accessories will be ready to ship on October 28. The new Kindle Paperwhite and Colorsoft models will also ship on October 28.

Amazon VP of Kindle Kevin Keith said, “They all feature user-replaceable batteries to be in compliance with EU regulations, too.” The new Kindles arrive alongside several other Amazon products announced in the past week, including a new Fire TV Stick 4K.

The result is a Kindle lineup that treats page turning as a hardware feature again—provided buyers choose the right model, cover, and collection of pogo pins. Ereaders may be simple devices, but Amazon has found another way to give them an accessory ecosystem.
