The plan creates a bigger coverage option than AppleCare+ or AppleCare One for individuals, but its limits matter. Families get one shared pool of theft and loss claims, while every member can bring eligible devices into the same plan.
One Subscription Covers Up to Six People
AppleCare One Family will cover eligible devices for up to six people in a Family Sharing group. To sign up, the family organizer must set up Family Sharing first, then invite up to five members.
Once the group is ready, members can add their old devices under the plan. Most Apple products less than four years old can qualify, giving families a way to bring devices they already own into the new subscription instead of starting coverage only with a new purchase.
New purchases also join the plan without a separate enrollment step when the product uses a member’s Apple ID. That means a newly purchased device can become part of the family’s coverage as soon as it is connected to the account.

The plan also includes theft and loss coverage, but the entire family shares a limit of six theft and loss claims per year. That annual cap applies to the whole Family plan, not six claims for each person.
