Samsung Health Cuts Sleep Coaching Setup to Three Days

Samsung Health is changing how users begin Sleep Coaching. The feature now needs only three days of sleep data from the past two weeks, replacing the earlier requirement of seven days within a month.
That shorter starting window applies to people using a Galaxy Watch 4 series or later model, Galaxy Fit 3, or Galaxy Ring. Once the app has the required data, it creates a tailored four- to eight-week program based on each user’s goals and habits.
How the new Sleep Coaching setup works
Starting Sleep Coaching still involves a survey. Users answer questions about sleep regularity, nighttime interruptions, alcohol and caffeine intake, and how satisfied they feel with their sleep. Samsung Health combines those answers with three days of sleep data to assign a personalized Sleep Animal symbol and build the coaching plan.
The program does not stay fixed from the first day to the last. Samsung Health adjusts weekly recommendations based on sleep patterns and tracks daily sleep satisfaction, giving the app information to shape the next steps in the program.
Users also receive daily habit checklists and sleep tips. Examples include avoiding screens and caffeine before bed, along with stretching outdoors after waking. These suggestions give the program specific habits to follow instead of presenting sleep data on its own.
The app’s Sleep Coaching reports have also become more detailed. A Sleep Balance graph brings several measures together, including sleep time, sleep regularity, nighttime wakefulness, sleep satisfaction, and an Energy Score.
That report gives users several ways to review their sleep in one place. It connects the amount of time they sleep with regularity, waking during the night, satisfaction, and the Energy Score used in the analysis.
Running Coach and nutrition updates
Samsung Health is expanding features beyond sleep. Its Running Coach app is moving from 10 levels to 12, giving the program two additional tiers. The update also adds more social media sharing for milestones, personal records, and route highlights.
A new partnership with the fitness platform Strava allows users to import Strava Routes into Samsung Health. That connects route information with the app’s running tools and gives users another way to bring routes into their Samsung Health activity.
Samsung is also adding nutrition management features for meal-logging and diet score assessments. These updates place sleep, running, and food tracking within the same set of Samsung Health tools.
When the changes arrive
The new features will begin rolling out in October 2026. The release includes the three-day Sleep Coaching requirement, more detailed Sleep Coaching reports, expanded Running Coach programs, social sharing for running achievements, Strava Routes imports, and nutrition management updates.
The change to Sleep Coaching is the clearest shift in the update. Instead of waiting for seven days of information collected within a month, eligible users can start with three days from the past two weeks. The app then uses the survey and that sleep data to create a four- to eight-week coaching program.
For users with a supported Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Fit 3, or Galaxy Ring, the revised setup brings the coaching process together around a smaller starting sample. The app continues to adjust recommendations each week, while its reports track the sleep measures and daily satisfaction that shape the experience.
